The Saab Saga Continues

It seems the Swedish car company Saab is not being allowed to be pushed over the horizon to oblivion.
In recent months we have seen bids on the table from fellow Swedish car company Koenigsegg and Spyker Cars of Holland who tabled an improved offer only last night (Jan 7th.)
Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone is the latest to throw his cap (ok, money) into the ring by backing the bid of Luxembourg investment group Genii Capital.

The Two Sides To The Swedish Krona (Crown)

It looks as though it will not be a Happy New Year for all in Sweden.
Of the two major car makers in Sweden the smiles seem to be in the Volvo camp near Gothenburg while latest reports in state the offer made for Saab by Spyker Cars of Holland is faltering.

Saab Lifesaving Offer?

Just over 1 hour ago Spyker Cars submitted a renewed offer to save the future of Swedish carmaker Saab which is about to be closed down.
The offer, which has an expiry time of 10pm GMT on Monday 31st. December is claimed to address all the previous 11 sticking points.
If the move is unsuccessful the owner of Saab, U.S. giant car firm General Motors, would be closing 1,100 dealers and cause 3,400 job losses in Sweden.

A Sad End For Saab

Swedish car-maker Saab will not be saved by the last-deal-on-the-table with Spyker Cars, a Dutch company.
Saab drivers have always been viewed as a non-typecast breed and have shown far more continuous loyalty to their brand than other car owners.
Saab will not be wound up or go into liquidation, they have given assurances that all suppliers will be paid and all warranties honoured.
